To fight the pandemic, the majority of governments all around the world imposed lockdowns and strict restrictions around going out. This type of restriction to movement not only cut considerably into the lives of city residents but also led to a standstill in their mobility. Since one should remain within the immediate surroundings of the home, private cars were no longer moved. The idea of “Street Balcony” poses the question of what it would look like if all cars were to leave the city. Private living spaces could be extended to the streetscape. A parking lot could become your balcony.
